Letter to Clearwater faith community

From Clearwater Florida

Jump to: navigation, search

To the faith community of Clearwater, Florida:

We are Anonymous. As you may be aware, we are engaged in a campaign to expose the suppressive and secretive techniques employed by the corporate entity known as the "Church" of Scientology International. In addition to a number of human rights abuses, this dangerous cult is noted for the unscrupulous methods it employs to silence opponents and former members. On the 10th of February and 15th of March, Anonymous had organized waves of worldwide, peaceful protests to bring these issues into the public light.

We have shone a global spotlight on the Church of Scientology. We now encourage all people of faith in the Clearwater area to shine an equally bright, though more positive, spotlight on themselves. We encourage you to take a stand against the atrocities committed by the Church of Scientology and take your message to the people of Clearwater. Your action in this regard is more important than it has ever been. We have received reports from sympathizers and former members that some are choosing to leave the Church of Scientology in light of recent events. These people need to know that there is life after Scientology, that there are other ways to explore the human condition outside of science fiction. Sadly, prolonged affiliation with the Church of Scientology has caused many to lose touch with family, friends and loved ones not part of this Church. Many of them fear to leave the Church of Scientology because they will be left with no one to turn to. They are falling, and they have no safety net.

While Anonymous can expose the criminal activities of the Church of Scientology, we can do little to help those most affected by it reintegrate into society. We therefore invite you to help us free these people from the dangerous cult they had become entangled with. Continue spreading your message of faith, love and community throughout Clearwater. Take this opportunity to help those who had lost themselves to the cult and wish to begin anew. We humbly request that, where possible, you choose accept former Scientologists into your faith and congregation should they desire to become a part of it.

With this in mind, we humbly invite you and your congregation to join us in a public demonstration on April 12, 2008. In protest of the Church of Scientology's practice of "Disconnection", the theme of this demonstration is "Reconnect". Disconnection is a policy under which Scientologists with friends and family members deemed undesirable by the church are cut off from them. This policy has created broken families, left children unable to see one or even both of their parents and ended lifelong friendships. Although disconnection is forced upon the Scientologist, they are intimidated into acting as though it was done of free will.

On the 12th of April, we hope to make the existence of this policy known to the world. We will expose the terrible effect it has on the families of those within Scientology. We plan on having the family members of Scientologists speak about how much they miss their loved ones and how the church has been detrimental to their family. While disconnection is the main issue to be addressed by this protest, other crimes of the Church of Scientology will also be discussed. These include forced abortions, infiltration of the United States Federal Government, and many more. The full extent of their corruption is too deep to delve into within a short letter.

Our invitation is open to one and all. We plan to meet at 10 AM at Coachman Park, in Clearwater, FL. At approximately 10:30 AM we will begin moving to the Royalty Theater, at 11 AM we will have a brief introductory speech and video, followed by two individuals who were deeply involved in the Church of Scientology. These two individuals have left the Church, and have had their families torn apart since. We invite you to return to Coachman Park at 1 PM for pizza, cake, and general discussion. At 3 PM we will be marching to Ft. Harrison, carrying with us picket signs with messages of truth, hope, and encouragement. If you find this letter to be moving, and if you hear the voices that have been silenced for so long - finally speak - we urge you to join us a peaceful demonstration.

We recognize that you are in no way obliged to assist us in the struggle against this false church. However, the collective of Anonymous would greatly appreciate any support that your congregation and the rest of the Faith Community can provide. We urge you to help these mistreated people find their way out of the Church of Scientology. They need a place where they can truly feel loved, a place that leads them to genuine salvation.

Finally, we humbly ask of you to pray for those within the Church of Scientology, that they may find freedom and spiritual fulfillment outside the cult which has ensnared them with such remorseless cruelty.
